Smug, Now Chastened

School started this week. I wanted to look back at what I read this summer because I felt smugly proud of myself. But now I'm concerned about my reading. I'll post the list below, then follow it with two quotes. The first quote feeds my smugness. The second challenges me to think about my reading and choose carefully.

*I copied the books from my book list, so they are in the form from my list minus my comments. The stars are a rating from 1 to 5 with 5 as the best.

"Who would call a day spent reading a good day? But a life spent reading-that is a good life."-Annie Dillard

"O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. Avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called 'knowledge,' for by professing it some have swerved from the faith. Grace be with you." 1 Timothy 4:20-21
